Cyberabad Traffic Police implements TOFFEE Vehicle Stickers
The Traffic Branch, Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has been implementing a novel program called TOFFEE. A TOFFEE (Total Offence Free Entity), is a traffic awareness initiative piloted in November 2011 by a group of employees of Microsoft Hyderabad Campus in association with the Cyberabad Police.
A TOFFEE certificate is a vehicle sticker valid for one year, which ensures that the vehicle is not stopped for normal/routine document verification checks by the Cyberabad police during the one-year period of validity.
In this program, vehicle owners of an organization can submit their vehicles documents through their respective organization to the local Traffic Police Station. The Traffic Police officers will scrutinize the documents and issue TOFFEE stickers with one year validity. Owner of the vehicle should display the sticker on their vehicles and they will not be stopped for routine vehicle checking for documents.
However they will not be exempt from visible violation like
1. Signal Jumping
2. Rash Driving
3. Triple riding
4. No Parking
5. Drunken Driving
6. Without helmet
7. Without seat belt and
8. Cell Phone driving etc.,.
The police may also check the vehicles during special drive i.e. Nakabandi, curfew and on other important occasions.
TOFFEE will lessen the burden on Traffic Police and Vehicle owners. It will save valuable time of vehicle owners. The Traffic Police will also conduct classes to TOFFEE sticker holders on safe driving and traffic awareness.
During 2011, with the initiative of the Microsoft, Hyderabad, more than 300 applications were received.
